FIRST AID KIT
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
- Your
medical expertise
- Your
destination
- Duration
of your trip
- Distance
you will be from medical care
- Number
of people the kit will need to support
- Pre-existing
illnesses
- Weight
and space limitations
Kit should be well organized and
in a protective pouch (nylon recommended).
The pouch should be completely waterproof in
wet or river environments.
Become familiar with common
backcountry injuries and illnesses and their treatment
before you leave on your trip.
Many items can be improvised in
the field (bandages and slings from clothing, splints
from branches, etc.).
